Welcome to the World Lyla | Leelanau County Photographer

I had the pleasure of spending a morning with this adorable newborn baby girl Lyla earlier this month. It was a rainy, gloomy, cool Northern Michigan morning, but the fireplace was roaring and the warmth of this family was apparent. We were joined by a couple of fur babies who wanted to see what was happening once I started to get my gear out, and pup even got in on the newborn photography action!

Mom had read somewhere…ahem, Pinterest, I’m looking at you…that putting peanut butter on baby’s head would lead to an adorable shot of doggy loving on baby. Well, let me confess, while their pup did give baby Lyla a big old lick, it didn’t translate well in pictures! Instead, it looked like she was trying to gobble baby girl up! Luckily, we got a shot of the two together, without any peanut butter induced kisses.

While Lyla would have rather snuggled with her momma than be a newborn photography model, she did drift off and I was able to get some very peaceful, sleeping baby shots, which is always the goal.

 

I’m still new to the world of newborn photography, but with more shoots like this one with Miss Lyla, I could really see myself enjoying this! And maybe someday, I’ll be able to pull off the Pinterest-inspired, dog licking the baby shot!
